“This has got to be more than an ingrown hair…” - You, a few days after shaving.

What No One Tells You About Recognizing the Signs of Hidradenitis Suppurativa

I want to talk about something I see in the treatment room all the time—but no one seems to talk about out loud.

Clients will come in, nervously pulling at their clothes or apologizing for “weird bumps” or “this rash that just won’t go away.” They’ll say things like:

“I thought it was ingrowns…”
“It started as a little bump, but then it opened up.”
“I keep getting boils in the same place over and over again.”
“I was too embarrassed to book sooner.”

If you’ve ever said or thought something like that, I want you to know:
You are not alone.
And you might be dealing with something that isn’t just irritation or just ingrowns. You might actually be showing signs of a chronic autoinflammatory skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS).

🧠 So What Is HS, Really?

HS is not an infection. It’s not bad hygiene.
It’s not something you caused.

HS is an autoinflammatory condition—meaning your immune system overreacts under the skin and creates painful, swollen nodules, often in areas where skin rubs together:

  • Underarms

  • Groin

  • Inner thighs

  • Buttocks

  • Breasts

  • Lower belly folds

The bumps can look like deep cystic acne, boils, or abscesses. They might burst, drain, or leave behind dark marks or scarring. Some people only get one or two spots at a time. Others live in a cycle of flare, heal, scar, repeat for years without realizing it’s a medical condition.

🔎 “That’s Me!” — Common Signs of HS Clients Often Overlook

If you’ve ever felt like something’s not right with your skin and no one has taken you seriously, read this list carefully.

Here’s what I hear in my studio—again and again—from clients who later realize they have HS:

  • “I keep getting the same painful lump in the same spot every few months.”

  • “The bump hurts before it shows up.”

  • “It’s not an ingrown—it doesn’t have a hair, and it lasts way longer.”

  • “Sometimes it drains… sometimes it doesn’t, but then it leaves a weird scar.”

  • “It happens most when I’m stressed or around my period.”

  • “It itches like crazy before it flares.”

  • “I’ve had doctors call it acne, but nothing they give me works.”

  • “I’ve been told to lose weight or wash better and that’ll fix it, but it hasn’t.”

If any of that hits home—you’re not imagining it. And no, it’s not your fault.

💬 Why I Started Paying Attention to HS in My Practice

For a long time, estheticians were taught to avoid these areas, ignore the signs, or chalk it up to “tricky skin.” But that didn’t sit right with me.

I kept seeing clients come in with the same pattern:
Painful flare-ups. Emotional exhaustion. Misinformation. Silence. Shame.

And I decided enough was enough. I made it my mission to specialize in treating HS with care, education, and no judgment.

I’ve spent years studying how HS behaves, what triggers it, what helps calm it—and how to create safe spaces in the treatment room for clients who have it. I’ve even created an entire HS education program for other professionals, because this condition deserves more awareness and better care.

The Best Ingredients for Autoimmune Skin Care 🏆🪴🔬

When you’re navigating autoimmune skin conditions like Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), Lupus, Eczema, Psoriasis, or PCOS-related flare-ups, your skin doesn’t play by the “normal” skincare rules.

A product that works wonders for someone else might trigger a raging inflammation party on your face, underarms, or intimate areas. That's because autoimmune skin isn't just sensitive—it's reactive, compromised, and often in a constant state of defense.

So what do you need?
Ingredients that support the skin barrier, reduce inflammation at the root, and respect the body’s natural healing process—without overwhelming it.

Below is your no-fluff, no-fragrance, no-bs guide to the best skincare ingredients for autoimmune and inflamed skin. These ingredients show up in my backbar, in my wax room, and on my retail shelf—for a reason.

🍑 1. Zinc PCA

Why It’s Amazing:
Zinc PCA is a skin-balancing mineral compound that controls oil production, soothes inflammation, and helps fight off bacteria—without disrupting the skin barrier. It’s especially beneficial for HS-prone areas where clogged follicles and secondary infection are common.

Best For:

  • Ingrown-prone areas

  • Folliculitis-prone skin

  • Oily but sensitive zones (underarms, groin, jawline)

Pro Tip: Look for zinc PCA in toners, spot treatments, and post-wax calming mists.

🌿 2. Green Tea Extract (EGCG)

Why It’s Amazing:
Green tea extract is loaded with polyphenols that reduce inflammation on a cellular level. It also contains EGCG, a powerful antioxidant that helps regulate immune response in the skin and calm red, irritated patches. It’s a superstar for HS, psoriasis, and autoimmune-triggered facial inflammation.

Best For:

  • Facial redness

  • Inflamed lesions or dry plaques

  • Rosacea-adjacent flares

Pro Tip: Pair with niacinamide for enhanced barrier repair.

💧 3. Colloidal Oatmeal

Why It’s Amazing:
This isn’t your DIY Pinterest oatmeal mask. Colloidal oatmeal is a clinically backed anti-inflammatory and skin protectant that binds moisture, reduces itching, and coats the skin in a barrier-boosting shield.

Best For:

  • Eczema flares

  • Itchy, dry post-wax skin

  • HS “hot zones” with open skin

Pro Tip: Oatmeal soaks and barrier creams with colloidal oatmeal are your recovery bestie after a major flare.

🥥 4. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil)

Why It’s Amazing:
Unlike raw coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil (caprylic/capric triglyceride) is a refined, non-comedogenic version that delivers antibacterial protection, deep hydration, and barrier support—without clogging your pores.

Best For:

  • Dry patches

  • Dehydrated intimate skin

  • Post-wax replenishment

Pro Tip: This ingredient is in Thee Fuzzless Finishing Oil for a reason—it absorbs quickly and doesn’t suffocate the skin.

🌼 5. Calendula (Marigold) Extract

Why It’s Amazing:
Calendula has powerful wound-healing and skin-regenerating properties. It encourages tissue repair without triggering irritation. Clients with HS, open lesions, or healing scars benefit greatly from its soothing action.

Best For:

  • Healing HS lesions

  • Recently shaved or waxed areas

  • Barrier repair and tissue regrowth

Pro Tip: Use as a post-treatment salve or in calming masks.

💖 6. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

Why It’s Amazing:
Niacinamide is a holy grail for barrier repair and inflammation regulation. It strengthens the skin, reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL), minimizes redness, and supports immune balance in the skin.

Best For:

  • Chronic inflammation

  • HS maintenance

  • Barrier rebuilding after flares

Pro Tip: Start with low concentrations (2-5%) if your skin is highly reactive. Higher % may cause a flush in damaged skin.

🔬 7. Panthenol (Vitamin B5)

Why It’s Amazing:
Panthenol is a humectant + anti-inflammatory combo that helps your skin retain moisture while actively healing. It’s great for reducing itchiness, redness, and tightness after aggressive treatments—or a surprise flare-up.

Best For:

  • Over-exfoliated skin

  • Post-wax or post-peel sensitivity

  • Everyday barrier hydration

Pro Tip: Great for daily use in autoimmune facial routines.

🌱 8. Licorice Root Extract

Why It’s Amazing:
Not only does licorice root reduce post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), but it’s also a natural anti-inflammatory that calms overactive immune responses. It's perfect for skin that gets red, dark, or inflamed as it heals.

Best For:

  • Dark spots from HS

  • Hyperpigmented bikini lines

  • Inflammatory melasma or PIH from flare recovery

Pro Tip: Pair with kojic acid or azelaic acid for pigmentation support—but go slow.

🧬 9. Azelaic Acid (Low %)

Why It’s Amazing:
Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid that helps kill bacteria, calm inflammation, and lighten PIH. It’s gentle enough for most autoimmune skin types but powerful enough to make a visible difference in texture and tone.

Best For:

  • Razor bump-prone skin

  • Folliculitis

  • HS aftercare for discoloration

Pro Tip: Stick to 10% or less unless directed by a provider—higher doses may overwhelm fragile skin.

⚠️ Ingredients to Avoid on Autoimmune Skin:

If you’re flaring, cracked, or dealing with active inflammation, steer clear of:

  • Fragrance (even “natural” or essential oils)

  • Alcohol-based toners

  • Strong exfoliants (AHAs/BHAs) unless prescribed

  • Retinol (during active flare)

  • Benzoyl Peroxide (can further irritate and dry)

Final Thoughts from Thee Fuzzless Peach®️:

Autoimmune skin requires patience, softness, and precision.
The wrong ingredients can send your skin into full panic mode—but the right ones? They can calm, rebuild, and restore your confidence in your own skin.

Every product I choose for Thee Fuzzless Peach has to answer three questions:

  1. Does it soothe or inflame?

  2. Will it support the barrier or break it down?

  3. Does it treat the symptom and the root?

If it doesn’t meet those standards, it doesn’t touch my client’s skin.

Waxing Wonders: How High-Frequency Treatments Can Soothe Sensitive Skin

If your skin gets angry every time you wax—this one’s for you.
Redness, irritation, bumps that scream “don’t touch me!”—sound familiar? For clients with sensitive skin, autoimmune conditions like Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), or even just a reactive barrier, waxing can feel like a gamble.

But what if I told you there’s a post-wax secret weapon that can help calm the chaos, reduce inflammation, and speed up recovery? Enter: high-frequency therapy—the unsung hero of the treatment room.

✨ What Is High-Frequency, Anyway?

High-frequency is a skincare technology that uses low-level electrical currents delivered through a glass electrode to oxygenate and heal the skin. Sounds fancy (and a little sci-fi), but it’s actually one of the most gentle, effective tools available for reactive skin post-wax.

The current produces a mild thermal effect and ozone, which acts like a topical antibacterial. It's like a soft zapping forcefield that zaps bacteria, soothes inflamed skin, and helps prevent those dreaded post-wax breakouts.

🍑 Why High-Frequency + Waxing = A Match Made in Peach Heaven

✔️ Instant Calming for Inflamed Skin

High-frequency creates a soothing thermal energy that reduces redness and swelling. Whether your skin is reacting from the hair removal process or dealing with deeper inflammatory triggers like HS or PCOS, the treatment gently signals your skin to calm the hell down.

✔️ Antibacterial Power Without the Burn

If you’re HS-prone or just sensitive in general, traditional post-waxing antiseptics can feel harsh. High-frequency provides an antibacterial effect without needing harsh topicals—perfect for skin that flares at the drop of a dime.

✔️ Prevents Ingrowns + Folliculitis

By oxygenating the skin and creating an environment that bacteria hate, high-frequency helps reduce the risk of ingrowns, pustules, and folliculitis—especially in areas like the bikini, underarms, or backside.

✔️ Safe for Autoimmune + Reactive Clients

Many clients with chronic inflammatory skin conditions (like HS) fear the waxing process altogether. High-frequency gives you a non-invasive healing tool to help ease those post-treatment flare-ups—and makes you feel safe enough to come back.

⚡️ What It Feels Like: Not a Shock to the System

Let’s get one thing clear: high-frequency is not painful. At most, it feels like a soft buzzing or light static—nothing jolting or shocking. Most clients describe it as weirdly relaxing, and I’ve even had a few fall asleep during it.

🧖‍♀️ How I Use High-Frequency at Thee Fuzzless Peach®️

I offer high-frequency for a variety of services—especially for bikini, facial, and underarm waxing clients who are prone to inflammation or breakouts.

You’ll lie back, and I’ll glide the electrode over your freshly waxed skin like a peachy magic wand. It’s quick, gentle, and effective. Think of it as sealing in all the goodness and canceling out any potential irritation.

💡 Pro Tip: Aftercare Matters

High-frequency helps start the healing process, but your skin still needs post-wax TLC. I always recommend:

  • My Magic Healer®️ for hydration + soothing

  • Avoiding heat and friction for 24–48 hours

  • Gentle exfoliation 2–3x/week with our Body Buff

  • Wearing breathable underwear to reduce irritation (your skin will thank you)

Final Thoughts: Your Skin Deserves Better Than "Just Deal With It"

Sensitive skin shouldn’t mean avoiding the treatments you want. You deserve safe, effective, and luxurious services tailored to your skin’s needs—not just the basic strip-wax-and-go routine.

High-frequency is just one of the many tools I use to ensure your skin stays soothed, supported, and celebrated—even after the most intimate waxes.

Want to try it for yourself?
Book your next wax and request high-frequency as your post-wax add-on.

Not All Alcohols Are Bad — Here’s the Skincare Truth

You’ve been told to avoid alcohol in your skincare like it’s poison — but that’s only half the truth.

There are two types of alcohols in skincare:

  • Simple alcohols (the drying kind)

  • Fatty alcohols (the moisturizing kind)

Knowing the difference is the key to keeping your skin barrier healthy, happy, and thriving.

🧪 What Are Simple Alcohols?

Simple alcohols are what most people think of when they hear “alcohol” in skincare. They’re lightweight, quick-drying, and often found in toners and acne treatments.

Common Names:

  • Alcohol Denat.

  • Ethanol

  • Isopropyl Alcohol

  • Methanol

  • SD Alcohol 40

What They Do:

  • Help products absorb quickly

  • Create a matte finish

  • Kill bacteria (sometimes too aggressively)

The Problem:

These alcohols can strip moisture, weaken your skin barrier, and cause redness or irritation—especially if you’re sensitive or dry.

💧 What Are Fatty Alcohols?

Fatty alcohols are completely different. They’re thick, creamy, and derived from natural fats like coconut or palm oil. These are the hydrators.

Common Names:

  • Cetearyl Alcohol

  • Cetyl Alcohol

  • Stearyl Alcohol

  • Behenyl Alcohol

What They Do:

  • Lock in moisture

  • Soften and condition skin

  • Create that smooth, luxe texture in lotions and cleansers

These are the good guys — ideal for dry, sensitive, or inflamed skin types.

🔎 Quick Breakdown:

Simple AlcoholsFatty AlcoholsDrying, harshMoisturizing, soothingOften in toners & acne treatmentsFound in creams, balms & cleansersCan trigger irritationHelps repair the barrier

Pro tip: If you see "alcohol" high on the ingredients list and your skin feels tight or stings after use, it’s likely a simple alcohol.

✨ Bottom Line:

Not all alcohols are bad.
You just need to know which ones to avoid — and which ones your skin will love.

If you’re unsure what’s in your products or what your skin actually needs, I got you. Book a consultation or treatment at Thee Fuzzless Peach®️ and let’s decode your routine.

How Hidradenitis Suppurativa Shows Up in the Wax/Facial Room

An honest conversation with your estie bestie…

If you’ve ever noticed painful bumps, recurring boils, or inflamed areas around your underarms, bikini line, or inner thighs, you might be dealing with more than just irritation from shaving or sweating. At Thee Fuzzless Peach®, we see it all—and more often than you think, what looks like stubborn ingrowns or “sweat bumps” is actually something deeper: a skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS).

Let’s break it down.

HS is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that affects areas where skin rubs together—think underarms, groin, buttocks, inner thighs, under the breasts. It shows up as deep, painful nodules, blackheads, or boils that can rupture, drain, and sometimes leave behind tunnels or scarring. It’s not contagious, not caused by poor hygiene, and often misunderstood—even by medical professionals.

So how does HS show up in the wax room?

Here’s what I, as your wax specialist, often notice:

  • Clusters of bumps that keep returning in the same areas—especially around the bikini line, butt, or underarms

  • Boil-like nodules that feel painful to the touch, especially right before or during your cycle

  • Dark marks or textured scars from older flare-ups

  • Ingrown-looking lesions that aren’t caused by hair removal at all

  • Patches of inflammation that don’t respond to typical exfoliation or aftercare

  • Sometimes, tunnels under the skin (called sinus tracts) or draining lesions that reopen often

Most clients have no idea what HS is—and that’s okay. Many have struggled for years thinking it’s their fault, or that they just have “bad skin.” You are not alone, and I promise, you are not broken. It’s just that no one gave you the full picture before.

What I want you to know:

💡 HS has nothing to do with hygiene.
💡 You can’t scrub it away, and harsh treatments usually make it worse.
💡 Waxing with the right technique and products—especially hard wax—can actually be beneficial for managing flare-prone areas, when done with care.

At Thee Fuzzless Peach®, we work with HS skin every single week. We understand how sensitive this can be, not just physically but emotionally. That’s why every wax is fully customized—down to the pressure, prep, and aftercare. We aim to reduce trauma to the skin, avoid triggering flare-ups, and help you feel like your body is yours again.

If you think you might have HS, please know: you are seen here. You are safe here. And you deserve a service that honors your skin without shame, pain, or judgment.

Thee Peach & Thee Process: Why It All Makes Sense

The Peach: My Muse, My Message, My Mission

When I created Thee Fuzzless Peach Skincare Studio, I didn’t just pick a peach because it was cute (though, let’s be honest, it totally is). The peach became my muse because it represents everything I believe in when it comes to skin, self-care, and how I want my clients to feel when they walk through my doors.

A peach is soft, delicate, and full of life, but it also has fuzz, texture, and imperfections—just like skin. And just like skin, it deserves to be treated with care, not judgment. The beauty industry has spent years convincing people that perfection is the goal, but I’m not here for that. At Thee Fuzzless Peach, my mission is to celebrate and care for skin exactly as it is—whether it’s smooth, textured, scarred, reactive, or somewhere in between.

The Peach & The Brand: Why It Just Makes Sense

Every part of my brand—from my voice to my services—mirrors what the peach represents:

  • Texture is normal. Let’s talk about real skin, not the airbrushed kind.

  • You deserve expert care. Because delicate things need the right touch.

  • Fuzz is natural. If you want it gone, I got you. If you love it, that’s cool too. No shame, just solutions.

I built Thee Fuzzless Peach to be more than a skincare studio. It’s a place where clients feel safe, seen, and understood. I don’t just remove hair or treat skin—I provide knowledge, empathy, and services designed for real people with real skin concerns—especially those with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions like HS and PCOS.

A Peach is Soft, But It’s Strong Too

People see a peach and think “soft,” but I see strength. A peach tree thrives in the sun, withstands storms, and still produces something beautiful. My brand voice reflects that same balance—nurturing but no-nonsense, witty but deeply knowledgeable, fun but fiercely committed to education. I don’t believe in the “one-size-fits-all” approach to skin, waxing, or business. I believe in honest conversations, real results, and creating an environment where every client feels like they belong.

So whether you come in for the smoothest wax of your life, a skin treatment that actually works, or just a place where you don’t have to explain your skin concerns for the hundredth time—I got you.

Because in the end, we’re all just peaches—soft, a little fuzzy, and absolutely beautiful.

Why Investing in a Professional Esthetician Beats “At-Home Guesswork” Every Time

Skincare isn’t one-size-fits-all.
And yet, too many people are slathering on acids, retinols, and TikTok-hyped serums like The Ordinary as if their skin barrier is indestructible. Let’s be honest—your skin is stressed, and that $12.99 bottle promising miracles is probably what’s making it worse.

Let’s Get Real: The Ordinary Isn’t the Problem—Your Skin Doesn’t Need a Lab Coat, It Needs a Specialist

Products like The Ordinary aren't bad—they're just basic tools that require expert-level guidance. You wouldn’t do your own dental work just because you can buy a toothbrush, right? So why are you playing chemist with your face?

What starts as “affordable skincare” quickly becomes:

  • Over-exfoliation

  • Barrier damage

  • Random purging cycles you think are “working”

  • And chronic sensitivity you’ve normalized as part of your “routine”

This is your sign to stop experimenting and start healing.

The Truth? Your Skin Deserves a Strategy—Not a Skincare Shelf Full of Maybes

A professional esthetician doesn’t just “do facials.”
We analyze, customize, and treat. We bring:

  • Clinical training, not influencer opinions

  • Ingredient knowledge beyond percentages and pH balances

  • Skin condition insight tied to your unique lifestyle, hormones, and health

  • A long-term, evidence-based plan—not a grab bag of trending serums

We don’t guess. We guide. We correct. We care.

It’s Not About Products—It’s About Progress

By working with a pro, you’ll stop wasting time (and money) chasing results from a product aisle and start seeing:

  • Real transformation in your skin texture, tone, and resilience

  • Faster healing from acne, hyperpigmentation, and irritation

  • Custom aftercare that protects your investment—not undermines it

  • And skin that doesn’t need filters or excuses

Because skincare is more than what you put on your face—
It’s who you trust to touch it.

Your Skin is Tired of Guesswork. It’s Time for Real Care.

If you're ready to stop the cycle of damage and disappointment, let’s work together. You don’t need 15 products. You need a plan, a pro, and a results-driven approach rooted in skin science, not skinfluencer gimmicks.

Book your consultation today
Let’s build the skin you’ve been trying to DIY for years—in a fraction of the time, with none of the trial-and-error trauma.
